Sleep-in the Mafkees
At Friday 27th of June is a special day. Sleep-in the Mafkees will be open her doors for the summer months. This hardcore hostel is an unique accommodation to spend some days during your stay in Rotterdam. Sleep-in the Mafkees has two dorms. One mixed dorm with 120 beds and one female dorm with 24 beds. For 10 euro included breakfast you can stay in this unique hostel. Specially for our guests and tourists, who are interest in, we will organize walking -and pub tours weekly.

I-love Rotterdam Tour!!!
Last summer Hostel ROOM started to organize a weekly fun and free walking tour for its guests around the city to offer lots of inside information about the city which cannot be found in the guide book. Because of its great success the Rotterdam traveller`s desk Use-it and ROOM decided to make the tour a joint effort and make it even better. So from this summer we start the official I-love Rotterdam Tour! Important fact: the tour is still free and open to everybody. Every Wednesday! Ask the Use-it crew or the ROOM staff about the meeting point and departure time!
FESTIVAL
HipHop Festival in Rotterdam, July 5
HipHop Huis presents Street Science. There will be shows, panels, battles, workshops, jams and films. This will be the first edition and the organizers choose a theme for the whole festival: Bonny and Clyde!
Many artists from 10 different countries will perform in several places in Rotterdam around the Niewe Binnenweg area: CBK, NAI, Lantaren/Venster.

Blender Festival July 5 & 6, FREE ENTRANCE
The first edition of the new Blender festival will take place on Saturday July 5 and Sunday July 6. This means you can enjoy music and much more in Delfshaven for free. The festival is a celebration with local talent and international artists, dance, visual arts and theatre. The two-day festival will take place in the area between Kapelplein and the World Music & Dance Centre. Cultural organisations in Delfshaven will open their doors to show what they’ve got Rotterdam to offer. There is hip-hop and modern dance in the WMDC, visual arts in a street parade and a diner dansant, in collaboration with catering from Delfshaven. Are you also curious what culture is like in Delfshaven? Come to the festival and discover, watch, listen and participate!
How to get there: The WMDC is situated on a historical spot in the multicultural district Delfshaven in Rotterdam along the Pieter the Hoochweg. From the Central Station take Tram 8, halte Westzeedijk or take the metro to Beurs and change metro in the direction of Coolhaven (Calandlijn). At Coolhaven cross the bridge and walk towards the roundabout, you will see the WMDC on your right hand side.

The North Sea Jazz Festival is one of the most famous events in Rotterdam. People come from all other the world to experience the atmosphere and to listen to the many great artists!

Strand aan de Maas (Beach on the Maas) until September 30
Would you like the beach and the city? Than you have to go to 'Het strand aan de Maas'. During the summer months Rotterdam has a beach. You can go here on the day or for a nice party. With a nice view on the Maas and the Erasmusbridge in the front you can enjoy the sun, drinks, food and nice people. Below you find a schedule of parties which are going on.

Metropolis festival July 6
This festival is crowded with stages where all kind of different bands and DJ's give their best. This is a great opportunity to discover new talents and enjoy the sun and beer! Bands such as Interpol, the Smashing Pumpkins and the Strokes started their careers right here.
Location: The Zuiderpark (metro exit Zuidplein and from there a 3 minute walk).
CULTURAL
“Tour de Monde” through photography until September 7th
Take a walk in the disappearing hutongs of Beijing, be a spectator of a bicycle race held in Colombia, Cuba, Senegal, Eritrea, Qatar or China, see the innocent faces of the children of the Swiss mountains! We are just a 3 minute walk from Rotterdam Central Station. Leave the Station by the center exit. On your right-hand side you will see a big old office building ('Groothandelsgebouw'). Follow the fences, turn right at restaurant Engels on the corner of the building and the avenue called Weena. Just keep walking alongside the office building in a westerly direction. Keep going. Next you will pass a blue/green school building (Albeda College). Turn right at the corner. This is the Schaatsbaan. Now just keep walking straight on towards the railroad tracks. Now look on your left-hand side to see a yellow and black checkerboard building. That is the place to be. Welcome to Use-it!
